Needless to say, they were delicious.
I quartered the recipe. Not halved, quartered. Because her original recipe makes 50, and I wasn't planning to have that many friends over today. For those of you who are math-averse, here are the measurements I used:
For the dough:
1 cup milk
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp yeast
2 cups plus 1/4 cup flour, plus more for flouring the rolling surface
1 scant tsp baking powder
1 scant tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
For the filling:
about 5-6 Tbsp melted butter
1/2 cup sugar (I think I may have used less)
cinnamon for sprinkling
For the frosting:
1/2 bag powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla (I didn't have maple flavoring, but trust me, it turned out fine)
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup melted butter
1/8 tsp salt
splash of coffee
The directions are the same with these reduced amounts, of course. This made about 15 rolls (and one pan is gone already!).
Beware: these are so sweet my roommate felt the need to brush her teeth immediately after eating one. You've been warned!
Another way to think of it is that one of these is probably equal to several handfuls of Halloween candy.
Happy Halloween!
